FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the cost and does my insurance cover any of the weight loss program cost?
BW Body and Wellness does not believe in one cookie-cutter approach to weight loss, simply because it does not work. Insurance coverage on weight loss is variable and dependent on several factors: 1) the type of insurance coverage you have matters, 2) if you have any medical problems arising from your weight, and 3) your starting weight. If insurance is used, then there may be out-of-pocket costs until your deductible amount is reached. With your first visit we will try our best to inform you of the level your insurance carrier can help you with your overall cost. *Medicare patients are now being covered for weight loss management and counseling for a specific period of time and perhaps longer if weight loss goals are met. There is not one pricelist that applies to everyone because a personalized weight loss management plan will be formulated by Dr. Betty Wang and yourself. We can provide a receipt if you choose to submit any charges to your health savings account. The cost of food supplements or vitamins is an out of pocket expense.
How often do I need to come in for visits?
This depends on your personalized plan and will be discussed at your initial visit. Doctor visits can range from once a week to once a month. Support staff visits can also be variable depending on your plan. We are extremely committed to you and your program as we hope you will be too.
What are the visits like?
You will be required to be weighed at each visit. We start with vital signs as well. Some visits will involve exercises on paper to initiate self-reflection. Each visit with the doctor will involve a review of the time since the last visit, individualized nutrition and exercise counseling, and advice on how to proceed for optimal results. Every 4-6 weeks, body measurements will also be taken to track your inches lost.
How long do I have to stay on this weight loss program?
Our goal is to help you get to your goal weight as soon as possible and then help you maintain your weight loss for the rest of your life. We aim for a comprehensive approach to address behavior modification and counseling as well as exercise recommendations created to help you achieve ongoing success.
Are your weight loss programs safe if I have diabetes or other medical conditions?
As a physician, Dr. Wang, designs her plans based on the multitude of factors that need to be monitored, such as diabetes, hypertension, thyroid dysfunctions, heart disease, kidney concerns, and any other medical conditions. With your health in mind, we will separate your weight loss visits from your routine follow-up visits. Your usual provider will ensure your medical conditions are carefully monitored and make any adjustments if necessary. Your labs and medical record will be shared with your usual provider so that there is a collaborative effort for optimal results and safety.
